Stan Milne
Stan lives and works from his studio at home in Glasgow. He is a time-served draughtsman from the ‘not all that long ago’ days of drawing boards and pencils and pens, and he has had a long career in engineering. While he took the engineering route early on, he has always painted recreationally and began exhibiting and selling his work when he joined a local art group 20 or so years ago.
‘I suppose I would be described as self-taught but over the years I have attended many excellent artist demonstrations explaining the different media and materials and the recurring themes of composition, colour, tone, creating form etc. During this time, I have gradually developed my style usually based around landscapes and more recently with a figurative element often in the form of a few sheep or highland cows which can be a lot of fun! I would say that my paintings tend towards a more graphic style as the engineering and artistic sides of my brain wrestle with the images on the canvas.’
